About

Cathy Chang (she/her/hers) is a studio artist specializing in ceramics and traditional craft techniques. She received her BFA in Studio Art from the University of Southern California, where she studied ceramics with ceramic artist Mr. Ken Price, known for his abstract clay figures. Cathy subsequently returned to the South Bay area of San Francisco and began teaching youth in painting and ceramics in private studios at Cindy Art Studio in San Jose (1998) and Clayground in Cupertino (1999). Cathy is currently working at pottery studios in Sunnyvale and Mountain View. She is committed to local art events, juried competitions, and cultural exchange exhibitions.

Teaching Philosophy
Pottery making is a timeless profession. With this in mind, I encourage students to learn to appreciate art forms from different cultures, challenge themselves in the creative process, and share their creativity in the classroom. Furthermore, I believe that continuing to learn and practice new skills throughout life builds a solid foundation for craftsmanship.
